Library Egg

"No, you don't need to take your egg into the library sweetheart."

It's Sunday afternoon and we were all getting out of the family van to go to the local library, when I heard myself say those words. My 3 year old daughter got some large colorful plastic eggs for Easter and has been enjoying carry them around and playing with them since last week. As she tried to climb down from the van, she announced that she was proudly bringing one of her eggs with her.

My wife laughed out loud about it, as she heard me say that without having seen our exchange. Then we both laughed about it and I said, "Now there's a blog title!!"

It made me think about a lot of things all at once, but specifically how fleeting our moments can be. All the stress of work, all the demands of parenthood, and any of my individual concerns melted away in that moment. How sweet life can truly be when you embrace the simple innocence of life. It not just about a plastic colored egg, it's about how special life can be when you take a moment to listen.

Reminds me of the Great Satchmo's song: "What a wonderful world!"
